Tim Ho Wan restaurant is the world's cheapest Michelin star restaurant. In its 2009 Hong Kong edition, Michelin world-famous gourmet guide awarded a one-star rating to this dim sum restaurant, which serves the cheapest Michelin meals in the world. Everything on the menu is between HK$10 and HK$18 (between EUR0.89 and EUR1.60). Tim Ho Wan restaurant may be small, but it was already a big hit with the locals before the Michelin recognition. On an average day the wait to enter the 32-seat restaurant is 3 hours. Restaurant's owner Mak Kwai-pui estimates Michelin's rating only brought about 20 percent more customers, increasing his profits by only HK$1,000 a day (EUR89). And he "sees no reason to raise prices just because they are more customers".
